Thursday Keynote: Why Nursing Continues to Choose Us


As Miss Colorado 2015, Kelley received national notoriety when she performed a monologue about nursing and patient care during the talent competition in the 2016 Miss America pageant. After being criticized by some talk show hosts for wearing scrubs and a stethoscope, Kelley’s monologue went viral and sparked nationwide support for nurses and the nursing profession.

Friday Keynote: Dear Stress, Let's Break Up


Jane McLeod is the co-founder of Capstone Leadership Solutions, a firm specializing in assessing organizations to facilitate planning and execution of operational improvements. Jane has been in the healthcare field for more than 30 years as a Registered Nurse. Her clinical experiences focused on inpatient Oncology Nursing at a large tertiary facility in Northwest Michigan, as well as Emergency Room and Critical Care nursing in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Jane has had the honor of serving in leadership positions in both of these hospitals, spanning most of her career. She has been a Clinical Director of Inpatient Oncology, Critical Care and Emergency Services; as well as the Nurse Executive and Senior Director of Inpatient Services. Working with staff to ignite the same energy and passion for their careers, as she has for her own, has been the cornerstone of Jane’s work.

As a nurse and an executive recruiter, Kim became increasingly aware of the “revolving door” of nurses in acute care facilities. Continuing Education:

The 2017 Biennial Convention provides up to 9 contact hours over two days (Thursday: 4.25, Friday: 5.5).

The Western Multi-State division is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)Commission on Accreditation.

Conference Goal: Provide a forum for nurses from all specialties and settings to discuss contemporary nursing issues and trends.

Target audience: Registered and student nurses

Participants must attend the entire event to receive contact hours. A CE certificate will be electronically generated after an online conference evaluation is completed.
